About Us

My name is Gay Denesse.  I am a nurse by profession.  I have a love of all things to do with needles and thread, fabric and yarn.  Pretty much any and all what we call the needle arts.  I enjoy sewing and quilting, crocheting and knitting, embroidery, Russian punch needle, ribbon embroidery, and making dolls from time to time.

My friend Erin Genrich works at The Green Project.  Erin is the workshop coordinator.  One day she asked me to teach a sewing class at The Green Project.  Of course, I accepted.  It really was fun.  We started with a simple tote bag.  In keeping with the spirit of The Green Project,  we put a recycling slant on our project, using fabrics we had on hand.  Our students were enthusiastic and a joy to be with.  Everyone began asking for more classes to expand on their new sewing skills.  So that’s just what we will do!

This blog will be a place for Erin and I to share information with students about our classes.  It will be a place to post pictures of our creations and discuss our newly learned techniques.  I will be able to share information here about some things to help you out with whatever project we are working on at the time.  In other words, we can stay connected here on our quest to learn and create with hands.  It’s nice to be a creator of our environment, not just a consumer.
